Last Thursday, pupils from Years 9 to 13 took part in Sports Day. Pupils rotated around a range of competitive team sport fixtures in their houses and year group bubbles, with one goal in mind - winning the Baldry Cup.
There were competitions in tennis, netball, softball, football, rugby as well as some fun events on inflatables, including a bungee run and gladiator tournament. And to set a relaxed tone for the day, DJ's Robbie and Tom were on the desks entertaining with music throughout the day.
Unfortunately, the athletics element of sports day due to take place last Friday, was cancelled because of forecast bad weather.
Head of PE & Wellbeing, Mr Dan Bradley, said: "Sports day was a huge success owing to the competitive but friendly nature of all of the pupils involved.
"Every pupil from Year 9 to Year 13 competed within their own year group against one another representing the five Shiplake houses. Years 9, 10 and 11 played in three competitions across the duration of the day, including; football, ready for rugby and softball tournaments, whilst the Sixth Form competed in netball, tennis, softball and a bouncy castle event!
"The arrival of the ice cream van halfway through kept everyone’s energy levels up and all pupils continued to enjoy the sport throughout the entire day. I loved Tom and Robbie's DJ booth which gave the event a carnival feel thanks to the excellent playlists and mixing."
Huge congratulations to Everett House who were this year's winners of the Baldry House Cup.
