It was fantastic to welcome rugby legend Scott Quinnell and the British and Irish Lion's Fan Van to Shiplake College at the end of June.
The Fan Van is touring around the UK to catch-up with ex Lions players and fans during the 2021 tour of South Africa.
Scott actually arrived at Shiplake by canoe after parking the van at Wargrave and was given a warm welcome on the riverside by former Lions team mate, now Shiplake College Headmaster, Mr Tyrone Howe. Mr Howe showed Scott around the Davies Centre, the College's new boathouse, gym and activities centre, while telling him all about the school.
He was then given a tour of the grounds and even got to try out what it's like being a Headmaster by donning Mr Howe's gown!
It was then back on the river for some fun with Mr Howe on a paddleboard and Scott in a woefully inadequate inflatable dingy that sunk when he got in!
In his conversation with Mr Howe, Scott said: "I love the fact that 20 years ago you were on tour, after the successes you've had, now you are giving back to the younger people."
