This week we are recognising Children's Mental Health Week with a range of activities and discussions in assemblies, chapel services, PSHEE lessons and tutor periods.
Deputy Head, Pastoral, Mr Nick Brown launched the week in Whole School Assembly on Monday where he talked about the theme for this year, Growing Together. During the special lessons on mental health this week, pupils will explore the differences between physical growth and emotional growth, the latter of which can be complex and can present secondary school pupils with real challenges as they grow.
Mr Brown said: "The aim of the week is to ensure that everyone is supported in meeting these challenges. The emphasis, therefore, will be on supporting each other. This is such an important issue and we hope that pupils will actively engage in all the activities and discussions."
To help pupils explore all of these issues and challenges during the week, teachers will be using the excellent resources produced by the mental health charity Place2Be.
To end a week of reflection and active discussion, everyone in the Shiplake Community is invited to come along to our Shiplake Dog Walk on Sunday 13 February. Meet us in Marjorie's Cafe in the Sixth Form Centre from 9.00am for bacon rolls and coffee before we set off on a 3 kilometre walk at 10.00am. Click here for further details and a route map.
