In this week's Whole School Assembly Head of Drama, Mrs Emma Farrell, awarded three pupils with their LAMDA examination certificates. She said:
"It is a pleasure to celebrate the dramatic achievements of the following students who undertook their LAMDA examinations in the summer term.
Year 8 Albie Ball performed in his Grade 3 Solo Acting exam and achieved a distinction. It was noted that he performed an enthusiastic and skilled interpretation of the role.
Year 11 J Scanlon achieved a Merit in his Grade 5 Solo Acting exam and the examiner commented that his natural ability and approach to the text enhanced the performance.
Felix Collar, one of our Year 11 Drama Scholars, performed in the challenging Grade 8 Gold exam (much earlier in his school career than most). This is a challenging exam which Felix seemingly breezed his way through achieving a distinction and was noted to have used his vocal and physical techniques in a skilled way.
Well done to all."
Speaking to the three pupils about why they take the lessons, Felix said; "The lessons build my confidence in solo acting and monologues and help me learn about the acting world", Albie said: "They help me build my acting ability" and J Scanlon said "They allow me to explore other aspects of my acting".
LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) classes are open to Shiplake pupils across all year groups and the 30 minute lessons can be solo or in pairs. LAMDA awards are internationally recognised qualifiations in communication and performance and equip candidates with a range of skills that will serve them throughout life.
