Last week, we supported Anti-Bullying Week and the theme for this year – 'choose respect'. As well as the well-supported Odd Socks Day, there was plenty going on throughout the week and we also saw the launch of our new Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.
Leading the week was Assistant Head (Pastoral) Mrs Dunn who writes:
‘All the students were offered a CHOOSE RESPECT wristband to wear if they wanted to. This was really well supported by the Shiplake Community, demonstrating that we all understand the need to be respectful to each other and to be kind in all ways.
Our Rev also spoke in Chapel during the week to all year groups about what happens when we show each other respect and how it can have such a positive impact on our physical and mental well-being.
Competitions also took place with the theme focussing on odd socks, and it was great to see many pictures of furry pets in their odd socks.
It also saw the launch of our new Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. These students came forward to be part of this scheme and have volunteered themselves to get involved and be pro-active in school to promote kindness and respect all year round. These students will be working with myself and Deputy Head (Pastoral) Mrs Elliott and will carry out anti-bullying training. The nationally recognised Diana Award now runs a year-long training course for the Ambassadors, and this will allow them to support students across the College in being a kind school.’
The students are a mixed range of age groups which is really great as it allows for a broad perspective of the college's opinions. Well done to the following pupils who have been appointed to be our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors:
