At Shiplake, we rely on our pupils to uphold the values and morals of the College. We also look to a select few pupils who have proven their maturity, sensibility and responsibility in their time here. These pupils are selected as prefects, and from the pool of prefects, the Head of each house and the Head of College is selected.
The Head of College for 2018-2019 is Josh Howard. Josh joined Shiplake in Year 9 and has been a member of Orchard ever since. Having now moved to College House, Josh studies Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at A Level. American born Sophia Hahn has been selected to be Deputy Head of College. Sophia started her Shiplake story this time last year when she joined, and has been studying Chemistry, Biology and Psychology at A Level.
This year's Head Chapel Warden is Daniel Anstey and the Deputy is Oscar Rait. Chapel Wardens are selected to assist Rev’d Stephen Cousins in his chapel services. They are responsible for preparing the Parish Church before daily services. They organise pupils as they enter and depart chapel services, as well as lead prayers and services when required.
The Peer Support network is a small group of pupils in each house. They are identified as pupils who younger students can go to for help, whether academically or pastorally. These pupils are selected at the end of each academic year and receive training for the role. We look to them to temporarily fill the shoes of older siblings or family members who they can trust and turn to in their time of need.
