Charities Parents' Association

On the morning of Friday 28 September over 40 parents and staff gathered in the Shiplake College OVR to take part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ to raise valuable funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Parents and staff baked cakes for the stall, which members of the Shiplake College Parents’ Association sold for donations, with coffee and tea being provided by the College. There was a fantastic array of confectionary on offer from chocolate brownies to beautifully decorated fairy cakes. Cakes that weren’t sold in the morning were sold to staff throughout the day.

Parents and staff discussed what a fantastic charity Macmillan Cancer Support was, with many attendees having had their own lives touched by the charity.

Hayley Young, Assistant Registrar of Shiplake College said, “The coffee morning is such an easy and enjoyable way to raise money for Macmillan. They provide invaluable support in so many ways to so many people. My own time as a cancer patient was made significantly easier by the resources Macmillan provided.”

Katherine Green, Director of External Relations at Shiplake College said, “We’d like to thank everyone involved in the coffee morning. We hugely appreciated all those that baked, ate cake and drank tea in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support!”

A total of £300 was raised – a big thank you to everyone who came along and donated.
