Co-Curricular Spotlight 15 January 2019

This Co-Curricular Spotlight covers Mr Read's Journalism Club, Miss Norrington's business-minded Printing Club and Mr Milburn's Media Club. This term, we will be exploring more of the fantastic Co-Curricular clubs that we offer our pupils; including YouTube Science Club, Ballroom Dancing and magic lessons, among dozens more.

Journalism Club

The Journalism Club is looking for ways to reach out to their target audience, the pupils of Shiplake. They plan on taking to YouTube in order to keep their content entertaining and enjoyable for their peers to watch. Throughout this term, they will be producing intriguing 'BuzzFeed' style lists, interviewing pupils and staff of Shiplake College and learning how to use video editing software in order to produce their own easily digestible videos. Certainly keep an eye out for Ben's Top Tens!

Media Club

Mr Milburn, quite the expert on media, continues to run the popular Media Club. This term, they are learning about lighting and the important role it plays in photography and cinematography. From location and position to colour and level, the Media Club is learning how to use this equipment to add effect and mood to their own projects. The group is also looking about the relationship between lighting and music, and how certain music videos are lit to create effect. 

Printing Club

Led by Miss Norrington, the Printing Club is utilising the Business Studies' sublimation printer, which they will use to produce mugs, t-shirts and puzzles, among other things. The enterprise-based club will conduct market research to get a better understanding of what people will want to buy, in order to make the club commercially viable.
