Year 13 pupil, Charlie Stewart was invited to share his fantastic A Level Art mosaics project 'Moments in Time' at the Whole School Assembly on Monday.

In his project he looks at the Black Lives Matter movement and how things have changed from the slave trade to where we are now with people making a stand.

He said: "Good morning everyone, for those of you who don’t know me I’m Charlie Stewart and I’m in Year 13. I’m here to talk to you about a new project I’m doing for my Art A Level, 'Moments in Time'.

"I decided to focus on the political aspect of this topic because it feels so relevant to our generation and our global community today. I used mosaics as a base for this piece because I like the permanence of this material and that it has a slightly grittier feel.

"I wanted to represent Past, Present and Future through a piece of artwork. The way I thought I’d do that is by representing Black Lives Matter and how people were treated in the slave trade and then how we’ve made a stand for it.

"So the fist represents us standing up for our whole community and then the mirror is us reflecting on how we’ve treated people and how everyone matters.

"Finally I wanted to present the future and then the idea of peace for the whole community to join together and make sure that we treat everyone the same. That’s hopefully what we’re working towards."
