On Sunday 22 May, an intrepid team of students and staff from Skipwith House took on the Tough Mudder challenge which was held at the Henley Showgrounds near Hambleden.

The aim was to raise sponsorship for GAP-Africa, a charity that Shiplake College has had a long-standing affiliation with and the team took on a gruelling 5km course filled with obstacles that tested strength, courage and teamwork.

The team of; Sam Edwards, Aaron Coleman, Will Taylor, Harry Stokes, Alex Long, Harry Batchelor, Alex Rowe, Harry Grayson, Joe Williams, Mr Cooper and Mr Milburn faced 13 obstacles in blazing sunshine with one goal in mind; to complete the course leaving no-one behind.

The obstacles included the MudderHorn, a massive cargo net that provided an incredible view of the local area when at the top, Hydrophobia and the dreaded Electroshock Therapy (definitely not one for the faint hearted).

Skipwith Housemaster, Mr Milburn, said about the event, "It's been an incredible experience and the team put in so much effort this afternoon. The way that they worked together, not only helping each other, but other competitors as well, showed how much they were getting out of the event.

"They have done the College, and more importantly themselves, proud. They have helped to raise a fantastic amount for a very worthwhile cause and I can't thank them, and everyone who has sponsored us, enough. We'll certainly be looking to have another go next year. I might give the electric shocks a miss next time though."

The House is raising sponsorship through the online GoFundMe page which can be found here and will remain live until half-term.
