History teacher Mr Rendell’s Year 8 class are currently studying the English Civil War, with a particular focus on King Charles I. To test their understanding, pupils were asked to prepare a presentation to the class on what they had learned.
Headmaster Mr Davies went along to watch, and was particularly impressed with one pupil who had taken a unique approach to the task. Using his technological expertise, Titan Harrison Richards decided to create a quiz on the subject. Containing 10 challenging and varied multiple-choice questions, the quiz covered many key facts about King Charles’ reign such as the countries he governed and the year that he was executed.
To ensure class participation was maximised, Harrison uploaded the quiz onto multiple iPads in the classroom. This allowed all his peers to have a go. Upon completion of the questions, an email is automatically sent to the participant and to Harrison revealing the answers and the overall score. From this, a leaderboard can be created to track progress.
Harrison kindly agreed to upload the quiz to the reception iPad, meaning all visitors can have a go. He was awarded an excellence slip for his fantastic idea. Over the Easter holidays he is going to create another quiz testing peoples’ knowledge of Shiplake College. More challenging questions will include:
‘In which year did girls first join the College?’
'When was the current striped blazer introduced?'
If you find yourself near reception in the Summer Term why not come in and have a go?
