Examinations

During the Easter break, many teachers gave up their time to run additional revision workshops and seminars for pupils preparing for GCSE and A Level exams. These sessions are extremely beneficial for pupils’ exam preparation.

Many teachers chose to revisit topics which were initially covered back in the Autumn Term, to refresh the topics in students’ minds. The sessions also provided a forum where pupils could discuss ideas and ask questions on areas they were less sure on.

In addition to sessions run in College, several teachers took advantage of the interactive digital learning platforms which are used frequently throughout the year. For example, English teacher John Davies uploaded several revision videos to his class’s shared Google drive. These directed pupils to key quotes in their examination text, and discussed the main characters in the book.

We would like to thank all those parents who have got in touch to express their gratitude to the teachers. One parent wrote in to say: ‘the boys are so lucky; I wish I had teachers like this when I was at school’, while another predicted that the hard work would pay off: ‘I am sure that due to their efforts this year’s cohort will make Shiplake proud’.

It is clear that most pupils worked extremely hard over the Easter holidays, and we wish them all the best for the remaining weeks of revision and of course for the exams themselves. Good luck!
