The annual Shiplake College Rugby Dinner took place this week, and what a night it was; awards were distributed, stories of the season so far were told and one heck of a meal was enjoyed!
On Monday, this year’s Rugby Dinner kicked off the festive season and the Great Hall opened its well-decorated doors to pupils, teachers and staff alike. After a traditional saying of Grace, the dinner of 28 day aged Entrecote was served. Once this was suitably demolished, the Under 16’s season was evaluated and awards were dished out.
To six of the 1st XV, Blazers were awarded for outstanding achievement, contribution and attitude throughout the season. These boys must have been integral members of the 1st XV for at least two seasons, and this year, those boys are Joe Booth, Tom Coates, Els Frisby, Harvey Hendry, Joe Tucker and Louis Ashcroft.
Under 17 Colours were awarded to Ben Stacey, Robbie Cartwright, Matt Dalrymple, Josh Howard and Freddie Lind. Colours ties are awarded to those who have made significant contributions towards their respective team with consistent evidence of an outstanding attitude towards performance and training throughout the season.
