Co-Curricular Netball

In collaboration with local netball club, Shiplake Stars, the College held its first Netball Summer Camp over the holidays. The week long camp gave students the chance to hone their skills, make friends and have lots of fun. 26 girls aged between 8 and 12 took part in the camp using the newly renovated astro courts overlooking the River Thames.

On the last day of the camp parents were invited to watch the end of week match, which showed how much progress had been made over the five days. Another highlight for the attendees was the superb daily hot lunches provided by the school’s catering company, Thomas Franks.

Tamryn Settle, who was co-leading the summer camp said: “We’ve had an absolutely wonderful week with the girls who have learnt so much.

“We have worked on passing, finding space, defending, shooting and attacking plus we’ve played lots of matches and fun games. Everyone has improved a lot but the best thing has been seeing all the girls having fun, making friends and being really active.

“I think the first Shiplake College netball camp has been a big success (and the t-shirts and kit bags were a big hit too!), so we’re already looking forward to next year.”
