Shiplake College has a proud tradition of showcasing the musical achievements of its pupils by encouraging them to get involved with the Music Department’s half termly Lunchtime Concerts.

This half term, due to the COVID lockdown, pupils, parents and staff were encouraged to get involved and put together performances for the College’s very first Virtual Lunchtime Concert, and they didn’t disappoint!

From a Violin Concerto to an African Beats DJ Mix and everything in between, the students, staff and parents really did put on a performance.

Mr Richard Curran, Director of Music, said: “I am so proud of all the pupils, teachers and parents who got involved, it really was a concert that showcased some exceptional talent, and brightened everyone’s week.

“Whether you are working towards grade one piano or are on your way to the West End, all pupils are encouraged to take part and show their talent.

“We are now busy putting together plans with our Year 13 students for a Virtual Shiplake Rocks Festival, because unfortunately we cannot have it on the school site this year.

“I would urge everyone to put Thursday 18 June, 8.00pm in their diary now, it promises to be an exciting event. Please get in touch if you would like to perform and be part of the show!”
