The College’s Octave of Music Captains has been announced for 2020-21.

The role of a Music Captain is to be a leader in their specialist field and encourage other musicians to get involved in the range of musical opportunities on offer at the College. They will also have responsibility for certain events throughout the year.

Congratulations to the following pupils who have been selected as Music Captains this year:

  • Matthew Waring will be assisting with the planning and coordinating of virtual and physical concerts.
  • A Galpin will be coordinating Brass players at performances throughout the year and assisting during rehearsals for assemblies and chapel services.
  • Tom Stuart and Maddie Arora have responsibility for promoting pupil singing through our choirs, identifying new singers and engaging them.
  • Elizabeth Tang, Leo Guo and Silas Lee's focus will be on providing a rotation of pianists for Friday communion.
  • Milo Griffiths will be working to establish a singer-songwriter House competition to be launched after Christmas with the intention of having new songs ready for performance at next summer's Shiplake Rocks.

Mr Richard Curran, Director of Music, said: “With such a capable and ambitious Octave of Music captains in place we are confident that music will continue to be the heartbeat of the College."
