Last week the Shiplake pupils competed against The Oratory School in a virtual running race. A total of 196 runners from both schools took part across the 48 hour designated time period, with those in Years 7-9 running 3km and Years 10 and above running 5km. Runners recorded their runs on Strava as part of the Shiplake Strava Club.

The weather on those two days was not kind and indeed most pupils were faced with freezing temperatures and snow flurries. Head of PE and Physical Wellbeing, Mr Dan Bradley was pleased with the turnout and determination as a result.

There was a range of runners and walkers out for the purpose of representing their respective schools. It was much more about the joint effort however and to see so many pupils challenging themselves to brace the freezing conditions was fantastic. The Oratory produced an extra 4% turnout, whereas Shiplake had a combined average time of 12 seconds quicker than The Oratory. So a 1-1 draw!
