Pupils and staff and the wider Shiplake Community, were treated to a showcase of the musical talents of our pupils and staff in our first Lunchtime Concert of 2021 on Thursday 11 February.

The College has a proud tradition of exhibiting the musical achievements of its pupils by encouraging them to get involved with the Music Department’s half termly Lunchtime Concerts. The concerts display the dedication and practice put in by our pupils of all abilities and at various stages in their musical learning.

This half term, due to the ongoing COVID situation, pupils were encouraged to send in videos of their performances so the concert could be streamed on YouTube. There was a range of genres including classical pieces, opera, musical theatre, even the Star Wars theme, with the concert ending with a DJ set complete with disco lights.

Mr Richard Curran, Director of Music, said: "I am exceptionally proud of all our music pupils who have continued to work hard, despite being at home and not in face-to-face lessons with their teachers.

"The motivation and determination to keep practising and improve is outstanding and I congratulate them for this.

"I would also like to give my thanks to Miss Knight and our visiting music teachers, Mr Good and Mrs Kench for their contribution to this virtual concert."

Special thanks goes to the following pupils for their fantastic performances:

  • Ewan Pratt - Drums
