Our College bands and musicians have been on tour recently with a fundraising event in aid of Shiplake Primary School and also a Battle of the Bands in neighbouring town, Marlow. Find out how they got on here:

Shiplake Community Fundraiser

Shockwave, Idle Thoughts and Johnny Miller took to the stage at Shiplake Memorial Hall in style on Friday 4 March to provide 90 mins of utter joy to almost 100 guests at a fundraising event in support of Shiplake Primary.

Shockwave, comprising Leo Slowikowski, Felix Collar, Jonathan Kowal and Dom Glendinning opened proceedings with an eclectic set which included an original work composed by lead guitarist, Jonathan. By the end of the first song the event was well and truly underway.

Johnny Miller then stepped up and serenaded the crowd with some Stevie Wonder and Amy Winehouse which really drew them in before Idle Thoughts picked up the pace again and expertly took the audience on a journey before leaving them on a high and wanting more.

Shiplake Governor, Sarah Blomfield who organised the event was thrilled by the quality of the musicianship "Heartfelt thanks for all the College did behind the scenes to help us put on such a good event on Friday - it was a roaring success and we made over £10k! The bands were great and really made the evening - people were up and dancing and the quality of the music was excellent." Mr Curtis who attended as a guest was delighted that everyone was "royally entertained".

Battle of the Bands

Idle Thoughts gatecrashed a Marlow Bands' Battle of the Bands contest on Sunday 6 March at The Duke Pub in Marlow and performed a terrific set with confidence, growing as a unit with every gig they do.

Unfortunately, with 90% of the audience forming a home crowd and given the event was voter-led, the Borlase band were put through to the next round. You will be pleased to hear that the boys are back in town and will be performing in the Spring Concert on 6 April.
