On Friday 14 May the Music Department put on a very special concert, Shiplake Introducing… which showcased the composition and video production work of our Year 11 GCSE Music pupils.
And, with nearly 500 views already it has proven to be one of our most popular concerts this year.
The virtual concert featured works from seven of our 11 GCSE Music candidates; Archie Smith, Alex Wilson, Lucas Ferrera De Arriba, Harry Wood, Richard Wang, Milo Griffiths and Fergus Heggie.
Not only did the boys compose the tracks in the concert, but they were also tasked with directing their own music videos to go alongside their compositions.
Mr Curran, Director of Music said: “Some of the works are very cinematic and some of them wouldn’t look out of place as a TV advert or music video.”
A key element of the concert involved each pupil presenting their composition and video and explaining a bit about their inspiration behind it, as well as the techniques they used.
Mr Curran added: “I am extremely proud of all the boys' contributions to the concert. They have worked really hard and it has paid off. The live comments on the night from people viewing the concert were fantastic and I’m sure the boys took great pride in their work being showcased.”
