The Music Department was delighted to welcome singer songwriter Hannah Jane Lewis for a day's songwriting workshop with our GCSE Music pupils.
GCSE Music pupils, as part of their study, must compose a free composition in a style of their choice and recently many of them have opted for current, popular styles.
It is for this reason that we ran a full day's songwriting workshop for our Year 10 and 11 Music pupils, delivered by Hannah.
Hannah studied music at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts before returning to the UK to launch her pop career in 2016.
During the course of the day the boys learned about what makes a successful song, how to structure songs for maximum impact before embarking on writing a song of their own.
Director of Music, Mr Richard Curran, said: "There were smiles throughout the day and the pupils were proud to present brief previews of their work before the session drew to a close. We hope to see Hannah back at Shiplake next year for a repeat workshop."
