Conducting Business in Paris
Trips & Visits

Over the Exeat Weekend, a group of our Year 13 economics and business pupils travelled to Paris, France, on a trip that would prove to be educational as they progress through their second year of A-level study.

Sophie Pendlebury writes:

On the 1st day, we arrived at school to catch a bus to take us to St Pancras Station, and then onto the Eurostar to France. This was such an exciting experience as many of us had never been to Paris before. Once we arrived in Paris, we got the metro to our accommodation. After a short briefing about the trip, we were straight back out the door to the business district which was so much fun and educational. Later, we went out for dinner in an authentic French restaurant followed by an amazing boat cruise along the River Seine where we saw all of Paris lit up, including the glistening Eiffel Tower. This was definitely a highlight of the trip. We then travelled back to the accommodation ready for the busy days ahead.

Jaden Laing-Buck adds:

‘Our 2nd day in Paris was an early start as we headed to Disneyland for the day. Before the real fun began, we completed a Disneyland Paris Challenge and then went off in groups and made the most of our time by going on rides, with some of the favourites being Tower of Terror and Hyperspace Mountain. We topped off our Saturday by watching the firework ceremony in the evening, taking lots of photos, and taking in the beautiful view.

On our 3rd and final day in Paris, we were fortunate enough to visit the Louvre where we saw many famous paintings, including the Mona Lisa. We then visited the Economics Museum, linking our knowledge learned in the classroom and applying it to real life scenarios as a team. We then took part in a well-engaged global economic crisis challenge. Additionally, we had the chance to explore Paris for an hour of free time. Most of us went for food at traditional French restaurants and some of us went on the hunt for special souvenirs to bring back home. From there on, we travelled back on the metro, followed by the Eurostar, wrapping up what was a great weekend away.

A special thanks to Mrs Hill, Mr Read, Mr Gower, Miss Norrington and Mrs Bayley for making the business/economics trip possible and a memorable one for us all.’

Head of Business, Mrs Hill, adds:

'We often find that there is a strong link between understanding of the real-world of business and the economy and improvements in academic grades. I hope for our pupils that they found this to be an outstanding opportunity to enhance the classroom learning experience with some highly interesting and relevant real-life economics experience.’
