On Monday 14 October, a group of Year 12 and 13 pupils visited Queen Anne's School in Caversham for their annual Careers Fair. It would prove to be a fantastic event for our pupils with stallholders from all sorts of companies and apprenticeship providers present at the exhibition.
Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed making their way around the room, talking to people from various industries and gathering up freebies as they went! Companies represented at the event included the NHS, Johnson Matthey, Aston Martin, KJS Solicitors, Thames Valley Police, the Army and RAF, Boeing, AWE, Leading Edge Aviation, the Crown Prosecution Service, Fairstone and many more.
It is extremely valuable for pupils to be able to talk directly to people from a variety of industries, and Mrs Rapple Moore encouraged them to approach stalls for a chat even if they didn't think they would be interested in that particular company, as this would help them widen their experience of what it would be like to be involved in different industries.
The pupils all agreed this was a very valuable experience and it was great to hear positive feedback. Year 12’s Angus Mullens said it was an 'excellent experience' while Jake Scotchbrook, also in Year 12, said 'the representatives from law firm KJ Smith Solicitors were 'interesting and knowledgeable'. Year 12’s Annunciata Ings added that 'Thomas Franks offered some great opportunities'.
Thank you to Mrs Rapple Moore for organising this trip. We’re sure that our pupils found the opportunity to talk directly to employers useful.
