Carol Service 2024
Chapel and Assemblies

The whole College community came together on Monday 9 December for our annual Carol Service at St Mary's Church, Henley to hear the Christmas story through lessons and carols. Parents, pupils, staff and governors were welcomed by the School Chaplain, Revd Becky Medlicott, before the Camerata performed The Infant King, followed by Arabella May (Year 8) opening Once in Royal David's City with a beautiful solo first verse.

The Chorus was in fine voice for Lullay My Liking and In the Bleak Midwinter; the Camerata sang Jesus Child, A Cappella sang Carol of the Bells, and the Male Vocal Group sent tingles down people's necks with Stars I Shall Find. The latter performing so exceptionally well that they did so again in our final Whole School Assembly on Friday 13 December.

It was also fantastic to hear everyone join together in fine voice for our congregational carols – O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Hark the Herald, and O Come All Ye Faithful.

The lessons were read by Felicity Hudson (Year 12), Austin Mason (Year 9), Luella Hall (Year 8), Franco Bigmore Wallace (Year 10), Eva Merry (Year 7), James Middlehurst (Year 11), and the Headmaster, Mr Howe. The prayers were read by our Chaplain and Chapel Wardens Williiam Bethell, Seren Duggan, and Charlie McLaughlin

Thank you to the organist, Mr Seb Thomson, members of the Embassy Brass Band, Revd Becky Medlicott, to Mrs Amy Haynes, Mr Paul Jones and Mrs Louise Rapple Moore for the musical preparations, and to Mr Andy Dix and the maintenance team for all their help with the logistical arrangements.

There was a collection at the end of the service, with £1,694.95 donated to the Churches in Reading Drop-In Centre (CIRDIC) to support the homeless and those in need, thank you for your generosity.

Please enjoy this highlights video from the service.
