This week is British Science week and we’re celebrating it through a number of ways! Lots of activities are taking place in our science lessons and today, we take the chance to recognise those who recently competed in an Olympiad!
British Science Week is a ten-day celebration running throughout the whole of the UK with the aim of celebrating science, engineering, technology and maths. It is coordinated by the British Science Association and is funded by UK Research & Innovation (UKRI).
It is aimed at anyone and everyone and the idea behind the programme is to raise awareness, spark enthusiasm and celebrate science, engineering, technology and maths with people of all ages.
At Shiplake, our Lower School pupils have been having a go at the Bath Bomb Challenge which involves designing and making bath bombs. Testing follows in their next lesson.
On a more senior level, we’re delighted to announce that seven Year 12 pupils received awards for competing in a Biology Olympiad. Even more impressive was the performance of Angus Mullens who, our of 18,533 entries from 1053 schools, placed in the top 15% overall! Well done to all who competed:
