Mission Statement
Shiplake College is dedicated to providing a truly holistic education and an environment in which all pupils can flourish. Our mission is to cultivate a range of personal qualities that will empower pupils to become compassionate, confident, and committed members of society by providing a whole school culture based on the College’s three core values:
- Inclusive – we are a community within which everyone is respected, and kindness is the cornerstone
- Individual – we strive to achieve our own personal best, whatever our starting-point
- Inspirational – we all contribute to a dynamic and positive learning environment that celebrates collaboration, creativity and independent thinking
We are convinced that every pupil has value, and it is our mission to discover and nurture it.
Our Aims
- Foster a rigorous academic culture based on effective learning habits through our work as a Thinking School and language of the "Shiplake Seven" (Determined, Reflective, Curious, Open-Minded, Meticulous, Independent, Creative)
- Seek to achieve positive academic outcomes, positive value added and aspirational post-Shiplake pathways
- Educate, support, and nurture a positive sense of physical and mental wellbeing
- Equip pupils with the ability to take responsibility for their own actions and the impact they have on others while being kind and respectful to each other as members of an inclusive society
- Ignite pupils’ interest, spark curiosity and stimulate creativity in an inspirational environment
- Encourage and develop an awareness of the importance of life-long wellbeing and character development through a variety of team and individual co-curricular opportunities
- Provide an arts programme that nurtures self-discovery and supports individual expression in the creative arts
- Build self-esteem and self-confidence, without entitlement or arrogance, balanced with empathy and a sense of humour
